The North West Children's Safeguarding Partnership brings together the 24 Multi Agency Safeguarding Partnership Arrangements to strengthen how we help and safeguard children.

We provide a shared space for learning, collaboration, and improvement. This focuses on a 'do it once' where we can approach.

The North West Safeguarding Partnership Vision

To collaborate better to improve child centred, multi-agency practice; nurturing a culture of trust, accountability, and support for our children.

The Partnership Approach is driven by the following principles:

We Share multi-agency practice that is improving outcomes for children and families.
We Enable the system to demonstrate the impact and effectiveness of multi-agency practice
We Collaborate: facilitating spaces for collaboration on common challenges / areas for improvement

What is a Multi agency Safeguarding Partnership?

Multi agency safeguarding arrangements set out how the Safeguarding Partners (police, local authority children's services and the integrated care board), along with other organisations including Education, work together to safeguard children.

This is in response to the duties outlined in the Children and Social Work Act 2017 and Working Together 2023. These arrangements are crucial to ensure agencies work together to keep babies, children and young people safe, hold partner agencies to account for safeguarding children, improve frontline practice and ensure that safeguarding is prioritised.

What Children and Families told us

Children and families value having their voice heard and being listened and responded to.

Relationships are key to feeling heard and valued, and relational practice models are welcomed by children, their families, and professionals (Darley, Blundell et al, 2024).

Key messages shared by Parents and Children in the NW are:

• Do not assume and make sure you know my views and perspective- if you are not sure-ask!

• Be clear on why you are there and the point of your visit

• If I ask for help, don’t punish me for this and please give me the right help

• Be human, show empathy and warmth.

Neglect Data Tool! Watch this Space!

Through collaboration with the NW and beyond, we are due to share our tool to support local partnerships in considering how we identify and respond to neglect effectively, focusing on prevention and early identification of need.
